NFL Week 2 Power Rankings
NFL Week 2 Power Rankings
These Power Rankings are purely based on the outcome and how the following teams performed in week 1. Many teams will free fall down this board, but for now we have to let them have their moment in the sun:
1. New England Patriots- Tom Brady cracks the 500+ yard mark and embarrasses a divisional rival in their house on MNF.
2. Green Bay Packers- If you’ve already forgotten the Thursday night shoot out, let me refresh your memory: Rodgers was near perfect, the defense played tough, and the Pack pulled out a tight win against a team that looked like they would have beaten any other home team this weekend.
3. Baltimore Ravens- A surprising whooping of one of the leagues top defenses. Joe Flacco was on fire and the team looked focused and determined.
4. Houston Texans- The win against the Manning-less Colts was over before it had even started. Some may feel the Texans got a freebie week 1 and shouldn’t be this high on the board, but they looked great on all phases of offense, defense and special teams.
5. Buffalo Bills- I’ve got to do it; the Bills played amazing and deserve to be ranked this high. Winning in Kansas City is no easy feat, hands down this was the biggest surprise win of the week.
6. Philadelphia Eagles- The Eagles were happy to see Steven Jackson leave the game early after his monstrous first carry.Overall the Eagles played well and should be a difficult NFC contender.
7. Chicago Bears- No one really gave the Bears a shot week 1. The Falcons walked into Soldier Field as a favorite from their impressive 2010 record, but were clearly outmatched and beat down in a completely lopsided affair.
8. Detroit Lions- For years the Detroit Lions could never win on the road, it was just an impossible task. So starting the 2011 season 1-0 after beating the up and coming Tampa Bay Buccaneers was impressive if you ask me.
9. Washington Redskins- It’s funny that Mike Rodriguez said that he had a funny feeling about the Skins and Jags but then didn’t pick them. I was really surprised Washington played as good as they did; their defense looks tough and Grossman seems comfortable in that offense.
10. San Diego Chargers- The Vikings win wasn’t one fans will hang their hats on, but it was a win. More importantly, it was a win in September, something that has been difficult for the Chargers.
11. New York Jets- An amazing comeback against the Cowboys Sunday Night, even if it was handed to them on a silver platter.
12. New Orleans Saints- The Saints lost in week 1, they also lost their top wide receiver for a month, but overall they looked sharp and will be a top competitor.
13. Cincinnati Bengals- No Palmer, no problem. The Bengals played very tough and won a difficult road game against a division rival.
14. San Fransisco 49er’s- A big win against a sloppy team always looks good.
15. Jacksonville Jaguars- It may take another week before we can really see how good or lucky this team is, but for now I’m ranking them in the middle of the pack.
16. Arizona Cardinals- Everyone is talking about Cam Newton’s impressive debut, but the Cardinals were the ones getting the win. Kevin Kolb looked rusty at first, but settled in and earned his first win for his new team.
17. Miami Dolphins- For a while, the Fish were able to go toe to toe with the Patriots. When they had to settle for a field goal, the momentum shifted and the beating began.
18. Tennessee Titans- If Chris Johnson’s contract was taken care of sooner, this game may have not seemed so out of sync.
19. Carolina Panthers- Was Cam Newton that good, or was the Cardinals defense that bad? Either way, amazing first game for the number one pick of the 2011 NFL draft.
20. Cleveland Browns- What happened? You lost to the Bengals…at home? Get it together Browns.
21 Atlanta Falcons- Despite the ass-whooping, this could be what the Falcons need.
22. Dallas Cowboys- Hang your head Romo, you ruined a Cowboys franchise record of being perfect after leading by 14 points in the 4th quarter.
23. Oakland Raiders- What was that?…15 penalties and a win on the road, I guess the Black and Silver don’t care how they get’em as long as they’re wins, but wow talk about an ugly game
24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- I’m confident I will be moving this team up the power rankings board shortly, but for now you have to remain in the gutter.
25. New York Giants- The G-MEN were flat and out of sync. Eli Manning was not sharp, and the Skins defense had his number. The extra day off should help; week two the Giants play the Rams (also Wk 1 losers ) on Monday Night Football.
26. Pittsburgh Steelers- I can’t believe I’m ranking them this low? It feels wrong. I’m guessing the Steelers will only be in the doghouse for about a week, but for now, 7 points and multiple turnovers…you’re staying here.
27. Denver Broncos- This game was in their grasp, and they let it literally slip out of Kyle Orton’s hands.
28. Minnesota Vikings- McNabb’s numbers were terrible, and the fans have been all over him for it. The play-calling was also bad: Run, Run, 3rd and long; need to spice it up, coaches.
29. St. Louis Rams- Bad luck with injuries ruins Rams season opener.
30. Indianapolis Colts- I’d rank them lower, but it just doesn’t seem fair considering they started a retired has-been.
31. Kansas City Chiefs- Embarrassing loss at home; need to bounce back fast.
32. Seattle Seahawks- Flat, boring, and no sign of life.

You have the Bills ranked higher then the Bears and Eagles. You are clearly a fool. They beat KC wow they are ready for the Pats. Yeah not so much. It is best if you put on your coke bottle glasses and actually watch all the games.
The bills, you are a funny funny man . If the chiefs are so hard to beat why are you ranking them second to last? Are you a politician, must be because your logic is very flawed? By the the Jags are trash so ranking them 15th above pit and the falcons is just insane. You got into Hunter s Thompsons supply of mood fixers this week.
You got to let the Bills have it. They were a 4-12 team last year and walked into a stadium to beat a playoff team and AFC division winner. The Bears won at home and played great but the Falcons “put the ball on the ground” in that game. As for the Eagles, they beat a team without Steven Jackson and saw only 3 quarters of Sam Bradford.
The Chiefs were 6.5 favorites to win this week, a bet many felt was a steal. The Bills didn’t just pull out a close win, they sh!t kicked the Chiefs. For one week….one week…I am going to give the Bills due for their impressive win. I don’t see what’s wrong with that
As a loyal bills fan ail my life the last decade has been difficult, HOWEVER, The man clearly stated these rankings are based on week 1 and by that the bills finally, for this week deserve the ranking. They held cassel and the staggering g runoffense of KC to multiple three and outs and did nothing.g but move the ball at will. Also Dominated the special team and didn’t let them start out side the 20 much If not at all so before u go hating on the bills remember that auburn wasn’t even ranked preseason last year( maybe the 20′s) and they wont the national championship …
