NFL All-Decade Team 2000′s

NFL All-Decade Team 2000′s

Can you believe a decade is over already?

Y2K had people on edge and the NFL “the Greatest Show on Turf” was looking to become the next dynasty. Little did we know, that an era with such great QBs could ever be duplicated. QBs in the previous decade, such as, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, John Elway, Jim Kelly, and Steve Young,

Oh yeah, and we can’t forget about Brett Favre. Although, every QB I mentioned is either in broadcasting or pursuing other ventures we still have Brett Favre.

Who would of thought with the emergence of the athletic QBs (Mike Vick), at the beginning of this decade, that in the end quarterbacks, such as, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, and Ben Rothisberger would emerge on top. Just ask Willie…Willie Beaman.

The unbelievable QB play does not and should not label this decade. This decade was filled with many significant events and unbelievable plays that one label would not be worthy to describe the last ten years. The 2000′s decade was definitely one for the record books. Whether it was the devastating events of 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, NFL records that were broke and then broken again, witnessing players that maybe the best of all time at their positions (Ray Lewis), and arguably the greatest play of all time (Eli Mannings’ pass to David Tyree in Super Bowl XLII) occurred in this unforgettable decade.

Unbelievably, this decade began with one of the biggest Super Bowl underdogs winning a championship (New England Patriots) and ended with, arguably, the biggest underdog NFL franchise (New Orleans Saints) winning a championship.

All-Decade teams are always one for debate, but I believe whatever parties constructed this list got it pretty close. Some players on the list seem to almost be forgotten, but any avid NFL fan can remember the significance of why they were chosen to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s.

Interesting mix. Would love to see how T.O. and Moss lining up next to each either would work out. Hate to be the QB in that huddle. And as much as I like him, Dungy should probably be replaced with Andy Reid or Monte Kiffin.

  2. Oh boy, I adore Bret . I hope he is doing well!
