Money Where Your Mouth Is Week 9

This a weekly column that puts our expertise to the test, as we show a couple of the bets that we are placing on specific games, or prop bets offered by the many sports books and casinos. Of course we are a sports betting advisory, so our goal is to help you win money, but if you can’t afford to place bets…don’t.

 Safe Bets

Green Bay Packers +5.5

The Packers are fresh off a bye and have had this game circled on their calendar for a few weeks now. The Titans are a great team, but they have played against some average offenses this season. Every team the Titans have faced so far have a points per game (PPG) average of 21 of less. This week they go up against the Packers, who are averaging 28 PPG. Could the Titans get into a shoot out type game? Yes, but with 5.5 points on your side, I think it’s a great wager.

Jacksonville Jaguars -7.5

Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a great quarterback, and we’re surprised the team hasn’t gone to their third option yet. With the Jags off a bye, and no threat from the Bengals offense, it’s a not a fair fight; take the Jags to cover.

Philadelphia Eagles -7

The Eagles are finally healthy, with Brian Westbrook and all three of their top wide receivers ready for this game. Some are worried that this could be an “overlook” game, as the Eagles face the New York Giants next week in prime time. The Seahawks do play well at home, but with all of the Seahawk injuries this week, home field advantage won’t matter, as many of their big name starters are out on both offense and defense. This game will be filled with many big plays by Philly, as the Birds will want to take the fans out of the game early. Unless they fall asleep in the second half, the Eagles should easily cover the spread.

Upset of the week

 Houston +4.5

This team has a three game winning streak going, and it would’ve been four if Sage Rosenfels hadn’t had a meltdown against the Colts. Going to Minnesota will not be easy, but if they can somehow slow down ADP and get a couple of good plays from their special teams, this game is very do-able. The key is to let Matt Schaub throw all day, with quick outs and slants, never letting that monster defensive line near him. The Texans run a nice looking screen, and I’m sure Steve Slaton will get his fair share of catches in a West Coast style offense that the Texans will apply for the day. Take the points, the Texans will cover.
