Money Where Your Mouth Is Week 5Money Where Your Mouth Is

This a weekly column that puts our expertise to the test, as we show a couple of the bets that we are placing on specific games, or prop bets offered by the many sports books and casinos. Of course we are a fantasy football advisory,  but we also take pride in our pick’em pool strategies. Our goal is to help you win pools & money, but if you can’t afford to place bets…don’t!

MIN220

Minnesota Vikings-10

NFL Betting can be an art form at times. Vegas spreads factor in a lot of different angles to a game, more than you could imagine. The going notion is that the Vikings might consider this game practice with the schedule having them face the Baltimore Ravens next week. Normally we’d steer clear of a 10 point road favorite off a big win, but the St. Louis Rams couldn’t beat a high school football team these days. The strength to the Rams is in Steven Jackson, and the Vikings hold one of the most stout run defenses in the league. I see this game moving along slowly, with a couple easy defensive scores that take control. There’s also some guy named Brett Favre on the Vikings who is playing good football and hates draining the clock. Easy Win, take the points.

PHI220

Philadelphia Eagles-14.5

The Eagles have never lost off a bye week under the Andy Reid era. McNabb had to watch Kolb set a record as the first QB to throw 300 yards in his first two starts, and the Buccaneers are starting a quarterback that looks like an un-talented version of Mike Vick. This game should be a blood bath; Philly fans have been restless all week without their birds to cheer for and want to remind the league that the Eagles are contenders this year. The game plan for the Bucs will be to run the ball and give their rookie QB Josh Johnson a very limited offense. The Eagles are great against the run with Bunkley and Patterson up front and are too talented to not create turnovers against such a bad rebuilding team. Take the Eagles, they’ll cover.

IND220

Indianapolis Colts-3.5

It’s amazing that the Colts are only 3.5 point favorites in this game. The Titans are terrible against the pass, and Peyton Manning is playing the best football that I’ve ever seen him play. Manning’s ability to read defenses at the line of scrimmage is simply amazing; the Monday Night game against the Dolphins was a great example of his vision and knowledge of a team’s defensive strategy. Being in the same division as the Titans, and facing a depressed, injured Titans secondary, Peyton and the Colts should walk over Tennessee with ease. Take the Colts to cover.
