NFL Picks Week 13
Last week this article went 1-2 for the first time this year to bring my “Money Where Your Mouth Is” record to 18-4. Our entire staff is still making great picks on our NFL picks section (which you can find here). Jonathan is still leading our straight up picks and has increased his correct pick percentage to 72.47% with a 12-4 record last week. My against the spread pick percentage increased last week to 54.29%, as I picked a 10-6 record.
The Bears are hosting an underrated Seahawks team that plays well at home but are 1-5 on the road this season. The only team they have beaten is Carolina and they only won by 4 points. The Bears are 5-1 at home. Chicago will will have their star running back Matt Forte, but look for the very capable Michael Bush to see some decent workload this week. Chicago will try to attack this Seattle run defense that allowed 189 yards on the road to Miami last Sunday. While the Seahawks will try a similar strategy with the run first play calling, the Bears run defense has been very dominant this year, and Seattle will be forced to change up their game plan. I see the Bears covering the spread with very few points being scored in this one.
The Texans take on one of the worst teams in the league this year that just happen to be in their division, the Tennessee Titans. This will be a home game for the Titans where they have posted a very dismal 2-3 record. The Texans are in the top 10 in every major category except opponents passing yards against where they fall around the middle of the league at 17th. The Titans on the other hand are outside the top 20 in every major category except rushing yards where they fall just inside the line at 19th. The Texans need as many wins as possible to clinch the number 1 spot headed into the playoffs. Houston is looking to keep it’s undefeated streak on the road record alive this week and that should be no problem against a Titans team that has nothing left to play for this year.
Houston will shake their recent stumbles and win and cover this week.
A very tough game for the Broncos this week as they take on the Tampa Bay Buc’s at home. The Broncos have consistently won but have not been impressive since their week eight 34-14 beat down of the Saints. Denver is in the top 5 in two categories (passing yards and opposing passing yards allowed) 9th in opposing rushing yard allowed and 20th in rushing yards. While the Tampa Bay is 13th in passing, 11th in rushing, 32nd in passing yards allowed, and 1st in rushing yards allowed.
This game set up to the strengths of the Broncos offense and their defense. While the Bucs will be trying to run against a pretty solid run defense and pass against a top 5 pass defense. Both teams have good records this year and both are playoff potential. But I see the Broncos getting it done at home and covering the spread.
