Hawks Find An Edge
Hawks Find An Edge
With a glaring need to improve their running game, the Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with veteran running back Edgerrin James on a one-year deal worth $2 million, a league source confirmed to NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi on Monday. With the signing comes the surprise cut of their goal line RB T.J. Duckett.
The Edge adds a bit of a shake up to the situation in the Seahawks backfield. For starters, was this veteran RB brought in to challenge for carries, or be used more as a third down back to help in the passing game and pick up blocks?
Either way, after watching the Hawks move the ball in their most recent preseason game, all running backs should be moved down a peg on the draft boards, as this Westcoast offense looks to be very aggressive with the pass. Hasselbeck finally has some great receiving weapons, and the new coaching staff is calling more quick throws out of the shotgun. Matt Hasselbeck has always been considered a gunslinger, but this year his fantasy value might be underrated considering what he can accomplish with his new toys and more aggressive playcalling.
