Fantasy Impact: Hakeem Nicks Out vs. Panthers

Hakeem NicksHakeem Nicks didn’t even get on the plane to Carolina.

You’d think after your quarterback threw for 510 passing yards in a comeback victory against a NFC underdog, you’d enter the short week with a boost of confidence. Unfortunately for the New York Giants they are going to be without their starting running back Ahmad Bradshaw and now Hakeem Nicks, who is suffering from sore foot.

Nicks was one of last week’s top fantasy wide receivers with an impressive 199 yard day that included a touchdown and 10 receptions. Normally an NFL team would suffer after losing such an elite threat, fortunately Victor Cruz also had a monster game against the Buccaneers and should take lead in Carolina.

The G-Men will now be forced to roll with Rueben Randle and Ramses Barden opposite Victor Cruz with Domenik Hixon also out with a concussion. Which of these three WR’s stand to gain the most with the added playing time? -Probably none of them. Odds are the Giants back-up WR’s will be in a heavy rotation.

One fantasy target that is getting a boast in my opinion is Tight End Martellus Bennett. Eli Manning has slowly gotten into a groove with the former Cowboy and his services could be leaned upon even more Thursday night.
