Gridiron Experts Start ‘em Sit ‘em Week 3

Week two was filled with big plays and huge fantasy numbers. The San Diego vs. Denver game was a monster for many fantasy owners, while Monday Night Football had people on the edge of their seats as a shootout opened every opportunity for a fantasy comeback. Most people think a quarterback or receiver will put up big numbers when matched up against struggling teams, but last week was a great example of how rivalries or divisional games can be great for fantasy football. Gridiron Experts is always trying to convince people to never back out of starting your top players. In other words don’t over think it, you drafted them high, play never say die. However, frustration does set in fast with some guys. T.J. Houshmandzadeh is struggling; in fact the whole Bengal offense is hurting. Many people (myself included) are wondering how long until they should look at some of their streaky bench players to fill the hole until this top receiver gets back on track. What about LaDainian Tomlinson, did you handcuff him by getting Darren Sproles? Or are you sitting on the couch, watching Sproles make plays as if LT was maneuvering him from the sideline with a remote control? Then there’s Larry Johnson, our comeback player that is making us eat our words. Larry is stuck behind an offensive line that can’t squeak an inch for the fluid running back. To be honest, I saw LJ running with frustration; he is usually more patient. So do I reach for a change, or do I stick it out? Our advice is to stick it out with some of these headaches. Of course play your best players, but don’t throw in the towel too early in fantasy. The worst thing you can do is bench guys right before they get back on track.
