Fantasy File: Quick Hits & Camp News
Fantasy File: Quick Hits
Marques Colston – WR, New Orleans Saints
Colston and Bush, both coming off of microfracture surgery, are reportedly entering training camp at 100 percent. = Fanasty owners need not to worry, camp is long and injuries will have time to heal.
Brian Robiskie – WR, Cleveland Browns
Browns agreed to terms with second-round WR Brian Robiskie on a four-year contract. = At this point, any rookie who shows up for camp on time has a slight edge. There are more than a few fantasy rookies still in contract talks, and the Browns getting Robiskie early helps the offense.
Lance Moore - WR, New Orleans Saints
Saints WR Lance Moore (shoulder surgery) and Adrian Arrington (hamstring) will open training camp on the active/PUP list. = The Saints are banged up, but all should be ready for week 1.
Champ Bailey – CB, Denver Broncos
Broncos placed CB Champ Bailey on the active/PUP list for the beginning of training camp.
JaMarcus Russell – QB, Oakland Raiders
JaMarcus admitted Thursday that he didn’t report to Raiders training camp in ideal physical condition. = Good idea JaMarcus, the Raiders have total faith in you…so much so that the Raiders signed Jeff Garcia this offseason. Your job is not a lock and you show up to camp out of shape? Things could get interesting here.
Clay Matthews - LB, Green Bay Packers
Packers signed rookie OLB Clay Matthews, the No. 26 overall pick, to a five-year, $10 million contract.
Trent Edwards – QB, Buffalo Bills
If Trent Edwards gets rolling with Terrell Owens and Lee Evans early, he’ll be worth watching as a breakout candidate. If his overall numbers pale after his work with T.O., it won’t be a big loss — heck, you might even get that one big game out of him during your No. 1′s bye
Knowshon Moreno – RB, Denver Broncos
Beat writer Mike Klis reports the Broncos intend to let “the other guys picked ahead” Knowshon Moreno to sign contracts before beginning serious talks with the No. 12 overall pick.
Tom Brady – QB, New England Patriots
Brady (ACL, MCL surgery) was on the field as the Patriots opened training camp practice on Thursday.
Eugene Monroe – T, Jacksonville Jaguars
Contract talks between the Jaguars and first-round pick Eugene Monroe are “muted” with Jacksonville’s reporting date three days away = Who cares about a Left Tackle? MJD owners do. The Jags had a terrible offensive line last year, and when any rookie starter misses camp time a weak link is formed.
