Gridiron Experts: Fantasy Factor
- Ronnie Brown – RB, Miami Dolphins
Mike Berardino of the Sun-Sentinel predicts that the return of Rb Ronnie Brown also means the return Wildcat. Fantasy Factor: Ronnie Brown was a steal in most drafts this year after his foot injury that held him out for most of last season. Brown’s history with being hurt isn’t great, but when healthy his fantasy value is huge. Expect great things from the wildcat and prey that he can finish out the 2010 season in stride.
- Anthony Gonzalez – WR, Indianapolis Colts
Anthony Gonzalez appears to be the Colts’ punt returner, according to Phil Richards of the Indianapolis Star. Fantasy Factor: Great value pick up for leagues that include individual players stats on punt returns.
- Brandon LaFell - WR, Carolina Panthers
The WR No. 2 job for the Panthers is still up in the air.
- DeAngelo Williams – RB, Carolina Panthers
The Charlotte Observer’s Darin Gantt indicated on Twitter Friday that the Panthers may let DeAngelo Williams walk in 2011 free agency. Fantasy Factor: Mark my words: Jonathan Stewart will be the full time starter next season, if your in a keeper league get your hands on J-Stew.
- Chad Henne – QB, Miami Dolphins
According to NFL.com’s Vic Carucci, former Dolphins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells was “very disappointed” in the development of Chad Henne before stepping down earlier this week. Fantasy Factor: This may worry Dolphin fans right before the season opener, but it shouldn’t. Sure Parcells is un-happy, but he wouldn’t have made it public if wasn’t trying to fire up Henne. Motivation comes in all forms
- Joshua Cribbs – WR, Cleveland Browns
Browns WR Josh Cribbs is reportedly been impressive as a wide receiver. Fantasy Factor: Could be a great wavier wire pick-up, watch him closely this weekend.
- Shonn Greene – RB, New York Jets
Coach Rex Ryan confirmed Friday that Shonn Greene will start for the Jets at tailback, but anticipates using LaDainian Tomlinson in a “significant role.” Fantasy Factor: To start the season we will probably see L.T more than Greene owners would like, but by week 8 or 9 the job will be his for keeps.
- Ted Ginn Jr. – WR, San Francisco 49ers
Coach Mike Singletary revealed Friday that the 49ers are “leaning toward” using Ted Ginn as their punt returner.
- Russell Okung – T, Seattle Seahawks
Already ruled out for Week 1, coach Pete Carroll acknowledged Friday that LT Russell Okung (ankle) may miss Week 2 as well.
- Jay Cutler – QB, Chicago Bears
Bears QB Jay Cutler has 16 TD passes and only 3 interceptions in the team’s 7 wins in 2009. His ratio in the team’s 9 losses was an ugly 11-to-23. Fantasy Factor: Stats are made to be broken
- T.J. Houshmandzadeh – WR, Seattle Seahawks
Ravens coach John Harbaugh says he expects WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh to play ” lot” in Monday’s opener against the Jets. Fantasy Factor: Having Housh on the field adds another element into the Ravens offense. Does he know the playbook? Not yet, but as a veteran I’m sure there are many plays he can jump into.
- Albert Haynesworth – DT, Washington Redskins
According to ESPN’s Ed Werner, Redskins NT Albert Haynesworth has been told that he will “play primarily on passing downs.”
