FanDuel Sleepers Week 17
Where does time go? With my five-year high school reunion early this week and now the final week of the NFL regular season, it has left me scratching my head wondering where the time went! Week 17 is complicated and much like a high school reunion. The people you remembered in high school may be the same or they may look much different, just like many teams this week.
Week 17 is the first week since September that us fantasy football addicts will be without our beloved teams. Many people will be competing on DFS sites like FanDuel to get their “fix” so it is important to find those sleepers to propel you to the top and win some cash.
The qualifications for my sleepers below are they are not only cheap but undervalued on FanDuel and for their price will have a great return on investment.
Seahawks @ 49ers | FanDuel Price: $7,600
Many people might think, how can Wilson be a sleeper? It’s because FanDuel fell asleep when giving him the price tag they did. This week Wilson is the 14th cheapest quarterback.
Wilson last week had 350 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions against a very good Cardinals defense. The week before that he had 226 yards, three touchdowns, one interception against the Rams. Wilson is once again playing great football down the stretch.
The Seahawks have made the playoffs but need to win if they want to remain the third seed so expect them to plow through their division rival.
Steelers vs Browns | FanDuel Price: $6,000
In Jones’s one start this year he had 281 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Patriots. If he can do that against (heads up Cowboys fans this is going to sting a little) the best team in the NFL then I am confident he will play well against the worst team in the NFL.
Last point, Jones is the minimum at quarterback this week which leaves you a lot of money to build a stud FanDuel lineup around a quarterback facing the Browns.
Running Back Sleepers
Falcons vs Saints | FanDuel Price: $6,400
With a win against the Saints, the Falcons lock up the two seed and first round bye in the NFC playoffs. This means the Falcons will come out firing looking to not only lock up their playoff spot but beat a division rival.
Last week Coleman had nine carries for 90 yards and one touchdown on the ground with three catches for 45 yards receiving. When the Falcons played the Saints earlier this season Coleman had 12 carries for 42 yards and three touchdowns with three catches for 47 yards receiving.
In his last four games, he is averaging 12.5 touches a game and I expect that trend to continue which could lead to another big day for Coleman against the Saints.
Seahawks vs 49ers | FanDuel Price: $5,800
With Thomas Rawls questionable, Alex Collins is sitting in a perfect matchup against the 49ers. How perfect you may ask?
The 49ers are giving up on average 151 yards rushing and 31 yards receiving to running backs each week. On top of that running back have scored 23 rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns this season. To sum that up, the 49ers are by far the worst team in the NFL against running backs.
Last Week Collins had seven carries for 28 yards and four catches for 19 yards. This is the second game in a row where he had over 10 touches.
In a game where the Seahawks should dominate, Collins is a great play.
Wide Receiver Sleepers
Saints @ Falcons | FanDuel Price: $6,700
Throughout the course of the season, Thomas has been the most consistent receiver for the Saints. In fact, he hasn’t had a game all season under 40 receiving yards.
This week he gets the pleasure of playing the Falcons who have a terrible defense. A terrible defense he torched earlier in the season when he had seven catches, for 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.
In a game that should be high scoring going with a player who is averaging 6.5 catches and 75 yards over his last four games with three touchdowns is a player I am going to trust.
Lions vs Packers | FanDuel Price: $5,700
A must win game for both the Packers and Lions which means both teams will have their full starting lineups ready to go. The Packers offense has been great so expect the Lions to have to keep up.
Also, don’t forget that last week Adam Thielen had 202 receiving yards and two touchdowns against the Packers and if Tate can have a comparable game then that would be your “Golden” ticket to some serious money.
Giants vs Redskins | FanDuel Price: $5,200
A player at this price with the production on a consistent basis that Shepard has had, is confusing to me. Yes, he hasn’t had the huge game but he has been more than reliable for fantasy owners. Would you believe me if I said he has scored a touchdown in six of his last eight games?
The hype will be around Odell Beckham Jr. vs Josh Norman but that will lead to more opportunities for Shepard much like in the first game against the Redskins where he had five catches for 73 yards and one touchdown.
Even though his highest week on FanDuel is 15.8 points that is still almost triple the value of what you pay for him. Also just thought I would mention that the 15.8 points were against the Redskins.
Tight End Sleepers
Packers @ Lions | FanDuel Price: $4,800
Last Week Cook had three catches for 37 yards against a good Vikings defense. The week before that he had six catches for 85 yards. With 13 targets in his last two games, this shows the Packers are at least trying to get him involved.
The Lions are the third worst defense in the NFL at stopping tight ends. The Lions on average give up five catches for 53 yards a game and throughout the season have surrendered 10 receiving and one rushing touchdowns to tight ends.
Cook may be tough to trust but if he scores against the Lions he will be a top tight end in Week 17.
Saints @ Falcons | FanDuel Price $4,800
Fleener may be the toughest tight end in the league to trust in daily fantasy. A player who has a ton of talent in a great offense but yet never seems to be able to have a good season.
When the Saints and Falcons played before the game ended 45-32 in favor of the Falcons. In that game, Fleener had 11 targets, seven catches, and 109 yards. Now I don’t know if I would expect another game like that but knowing that your tight end has the potential is something I like to gamble on in DFS.
Fleener has basically been Boom or Bust all season and in a favorable matchup against a division rival, the Saints will look to spoil the Falcons securing a first-round bye in the playoffs.
