Face Of The Franchise: Stafford Will Be A Lion
Quarterback Matthew Stafford will be the No. 1 draft pick after agreeing to a six-year deal with the Detroit Lions. The contract has $41.7 million guaranteed but can be worth up to $78 million. Gridiron Experts thinks the Lions made a smart move by making Stafford the first overall pick, he has the skills to be the face of the franchise and the leadership skills to finally take the Detroit Lions out of the decade of
losing. The big question now will be: Can Stafford prove to be a week one starter like Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco, or is he a project to put on the shelf? Only time will tell. D. Culpepper is still in Detroit and was probably hoping the Lions would draft anyone but the Georgia QB; either way the Lions have one position filled for next season, and now focus on all the other holes on the team.
