Cleveland Browns Can’t Catch A Break

The Cleveland Browns have not exactly been a model franchise since returning to the NFL. The team has a winning record of 68-148 and only has one playoff appearance since returning in 1999. The Browns have tallied just 2 winning seasons in 13 years and have had 9 seasons with 5 wins or less. Some fans believe the team is cursed, while others are just desperate for a winning season.

Despite being rookie-wealthy, the Cleveland Browns were optimistic in 2012. The team landed a beast in Trent Richardson and recently named their newest QB Brandon Weeden to lead the charge. But like clockwork the team has had a run of bad luck.

2012 recap (from old to new)

  • SLB Scott Fujita suspended for the first three games of the year from being apart of the Saints Bountygate squad
  • WLB Chris Gocong has been diagnosed with a ruptured right Achilles’ tendon, and is done for the season. Gocong, a gem that was aquired from the Eagles was 16-game starter each of the past two years for Cleveland. Last season Gocong had 70 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
  • Joe Haden to possibility face drug suspension.ESPN Cleveland reports that the Browns CB  is in danger of a four-game suspension for a failed drug test.
  • Trent Richardson plans to have 2nd knee scope. Trent Richardson is expected to miss the entire preseason. His early-season workload is now a major concern. Richardson is no longer a recommended first- or second-round fantasy pick and Gridiron Experts plans to update our Fantasy RB Rankings shortly.
