Top 5 Destinations For LaDainian Tomlinson

LaDainian Tomlinson is a free agent and is in the process of finding a new team.  There are many teams within the league that would love to have him join their backfields.  Only problem is that Tomlinson has the power to dictate where he may end up.  Not only will he be looking for a legitimate Super Bowl contender to play for, he will also be looking to get paid.  This could be Tomlinson’s final chance to cash in on a good deal.  After taking a look at the teams that would be in need of his services, I decided to narrow the field down to five teams.

The Criteria: Potential Super Bowl contenders, a  need for a running back, and a desire for the team to sign LT to a contract to more than one year.

5) New York Jets – With the release of Thomas Jones the bulk of the workload will be distributed to Shonn Greene.   However, the team could use another solid back to pound the ball into the end zone and for short yardage purposes.  Leon Washington was re-signed, but he is more of a third down back and will be used a lot on special teams.  There have been reports of the possibility of Jones re-signing with the team, but he is going to be visiting with other teams lessening the likelihood of him going back to New York.

4) Pittsburgh Steelers – With Willie Parker testing free agency the Steelers are going to be looking for a backup running back for Rashard Mendenhall.  This is an overall solid team both on defense and offense.  Tomlinson would instantly improve the backfield situation for the Steelers and he would love playing for a team that would be willing to rely more on the run.

3) Green Bay Packers – The Packers are a team that is going to rely more on the pass than the run, but the addition of Tomlinson would give

Aaron Kampman Signs With The Jacksonville Jaguars

DE Kampman signed a multiyear deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday night. Kampman was our #4  sleeper in our 5 Underrated Free Agents Worthy Of Respect , and with all the (adult aged) free agents this year we feel the Jaguars made out like bandits.

Yes Julius Peppers has a wing span of  a runway and yes his blitzing speed is worthy of  elite status, but Kampman skills can not be taken lightly. His ability can add a much needed boost to the Jaguars defensive line. A must after the poor performance from last years 1st round pick Derrick Harvey, who struggled. Although the job at opposite end will be either Harvey or Quentin Groves, the training camp battle should be interesting.

5 Underrated Free Agents Worthy Of Respect

The free agent market hits us like a tidal wave of possibilities. Fans are eagerly waiting and wondering how their team is going to make an upgrade quickly, while others want to know the affects it will have on fantasy football. The following is a quick list of players I think are flying under the radar who could have a huge year with a change of scenery.

#5 WR Antonio Bryant

Bryant had an amazing season in 2008, racking up 1,248  receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, but was franchise tagged last year to play on a team he wanted out of. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were desperate to keep this unhappy wide receiver around for another year, but now they are letting him loose. Before playing two seasons in Tampa, Bryant bounced around the league, playing in Cleveland and in San Fransisco after the three seasons in Dallas in which he was drafted from.

At 28, this receiver is a lot more in tune with what he wants and where he thinks could be the best possible destination for his skills. Bryant still has a few more good years left in him, and a team looking to add an instant starter could land themselves a great wide receiver weapon.

4) DE Aaron Kampman

I am not Kampman’s doctor, but if the light is green, teams would be stupid not to gamble on this sack monster. Aaron suffered a knee injury earlier in the year, forcing him to miss time and play somewhat average football for the Packers. If you look at the three previous years in

This will put a smile (and maybe a tear) on the face of a Saints fan, while stinging a Colts fan at the exact same time…as for everyone else, we all say the same thing to ourselves quietly under our breath: “next year”…

Donald Driver: Time To Be Sent Packing?

Category : Around the League, Green Bay Packers, Player Profiles

He’s 34 years old, going on 35 in a couple of weeks, and he’s due $4 million next season (plus $3 million as a roster bonus). Not the numbers you want to hear when you’re thinking of a rising team’s number two receiver.

Donald Driver has recently said that he’d like to keep playing in the NFL until he’s at least 40. While that’s a fine goal, it’s growing less and less likely that he will be able to retire as a Packer, if he does in fact continue aiming for this goal.

And what a lofty goal it is.

Only 51 players in NFL history have played to (or past) 40 years of age, and only one has been a wide receiver: Jerry Rice. That’s some interesting company Driver is fancying himself in. But forget about the age factor. At least for right now, that’s not an issue. Driver has still been playing at a fairly high level for the majority of his past six seasons (all with 1,000+ receiving yards), and holds great chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. You can even ignore the money argument for the time being. Obviously, with any player that is getting older, the money can (and will) factor into the equation. But let’s not attempt to dictate things that are out of our control, and out of our realm of understanding.

When it comes to money, only two things can happen: Either Green Bay views Driver as a player who is still playing at a high level and can continue doing so, or Driver is over-estimating his value, and will be forced to take a pay-cut. Regardless of the perspective, Driver could, and very well may, be shown the door if his need for a fat wallet gets in the way of what he’s got going on in Green Bay. But there’s a few more reasons why this story won’t have a happy ending:

He’s Already Regressing

He had some mighty fine season when Brett Favre was around, putting up three consecutive 1,200+ yard seasons, while catching 80+ balls in four straight campaigns. But ever since Aaron Rodgers took over, for whatever reason, Driver hasn’t caught more than 74 passes, and he hasn’t

Grab Of The Week: Greg Jennings

The Packers-Cardinals game was really the only entertaining Wildcard game this weekend. This catch was one of a few great highlights of an amazing performance from Greg Jennings. For those who gave up shortly before this touchdown drive, with the score being very lopsided in favor of the Cardinals, you missed an exciting ending.

The Green Bay Packers were down 31-10 before this catch (as you can see at the start of the video), and came back to tie it up and head to overtime. The Packers won the coin toss, and if it wasn’t for a slightly overthrown ball that was also headed for Greg Jennings, this game would have ended with Aaron Rodgers surpassing amazing passing numbers. Unfortunately, the play action deep pass was off target, and only two plays later the Cardinals stripped the ball and walked in for the winning score….but not without a little controversy.

This weekend of NFL action saw a fair share of bad officiating. The play that forced the fumble in this amazing 51-45 shoot out could have been called back for a facemask to A. Rodgers. In just about every game this week there were calls that changed the game, and while Rodgers isn’t making a big deal over the non-call, it’s too bad to see seasons won or lost by poor officiating.

Wildcard Heartbreak

One and done
Four teams are packing their bags and joining the fans on the couch for the remainder of the playoffs. Records were broken and there were upset surprises; a shake up to the norm should make for an interesting playoffs.

Patriots Lose in Foxborough?
Tom Brady was quoted as saying ‘I would have been booing us, too’ after the horrible performance on Sunday. A game that many thought would be a standard Patriots home win started with the Ravens Ray Rice blasting an 83-yard touchdown run up the middle on the game’s first play from scrimmage. Things didn’t get any better from there; Brady was intercepted 3 times while the Ravens running game owned the Patriots to a point where Joe Flacco wasn’t even needed. Flacco ended his day with just 35 passing yards, completing only 4 passes.

Where to go from here: the Patriots were banged up, and not healthy in this game…but that’s not an excuse. This team needs to be rebuilt on defense, freeing up some aged talent for more drafted Patriot studs like Jerod Mayo. This team should be proud of their season, and the best is yet to come with young talent like Julian Edelman and Darius Butler, but either way some dead weight needs to be dropped for next season.

Eagles No Match for Cowboys

Defensively the Eagles were outmatched, offensively the Eagles were terrible, and overall this game was hard to watch.  Fans will call for blood but the Cowboys earned all three of their wins against Philly, this last one maybe with a little help from the refs. The Cowboys seemed to be in every Eagles huddle, blanketing the receivers’ routes. Dallas was also able to break through the offensive wall with ease, pressuring Donovan McNabb all game. McNabb was sacked four times but he could have been easily flattened 7-8 times more. The Cowboys just wanted it more, and seemed to have a bigger, tougher team that was able to do whatever they wanted.

Where to go from here: the Eagles will no doubt address their linebacker core this offseason, and maybe their safeties as well, but the coaching staff needs to get a hard look. The never ending addiction to throwing the ball has held back the Eagles for years, teams need balance and a running game sets up the pass. McNabb still has skills, but a balanced attack would allow for faster starts and longer drives.

Bengals All Talk No Game

The New York Jets had a smart game plan that they stuck with to a tee.  Run the ball, play smart defense, and control the clock. Cincinnati was not looked at as a team that was going to the Super Bowl, but with home field advantage in the Wildcard weekend, many had the Bengals in their pick’em pools.

The Jets proved they were no underdog.

Ochocinco, shut down by Jets Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis, didn’t make a catch until 11:56 remained and finished with just two receptions for 28 yards. Palmer was out of rhythm (or terrible to say the least) and the Bengals will end the season as just another flop team that lays an egg in the playoffs.

Where to go from here: the Bengals can build on their young talented defense, but if there was ever a quarterback who eludes the criticism it would be Carson Palmer. Palmer has been awful in the last month and doesn’t see nearly as much blame as he should, this team needs a shake up on offense.

Packers Overtime Giveaway

Best game of the weekend by far, the Green Bay Packers came back from unspeakable odds to tie the game and head to overtime. Unfortunately the heartbreak for Packers fans was felt twice, first with the blowout first half, and then with the fumble in overtime, but a great effort was put forward by the cheeseheads. Rodgers was 28 of 42 for 422 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.

Where to go from here: straight up, the Packers are loaded with young talent. When the bitter taste left from this game passes, the Green Bay Packers should be an elite team in the NFC next season. However, an improved pass rush is needed for the next level.

Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals-1.5

Before this article grabs Green Bay fans by the wrists and drags them into the depths of painful, realistic punishment, let’s adore the facts. Green Bay just beat the Arizona Cardinals. They did so handily, 33-7, and after winning seven of their last eight games, there really isn’t much to suggest a first round exit.

If you truly believe that, you’re either a naive Cheesehead from Wisconsin, or you simply don’t follow the NFL.

After seeing the Minnesota Vikings beat the New York Giants and end any chances of the Cardinals obtaining a first round bye, Arizona head coach Ken Wisenhunt “wizened up” (pun intended) and sat all of his offensive starters after less than a quarter of play. What transgressed was the Green Bay Packers (who left their starters in for nearly the entire game) demolishing the Cardinals. Add the soul-pounding victory by Green Bay with it’s other six victories out of it’s last eight games, and you’ve got a confident group of players and coaches on your hands.

But, really, are they that confident?

They’re going back to the same place they just played in less than a week. Only, this time they get the real deal. The Cardinals saw what the Packers are capable of. They saw their offense going to work, how their defense works in it’s 3-4, and what tendencies Mike McCarthy and co.

Roethlisberger Wins With 2 Games Worth Of Stats

In the last few weeks, Gridiron Experts has used the following nick names for Steelers Big Ben:

“Cheeseburger” and Worthlisberger”.

I’ll now eat my words with a side of fries…pass me some Hines Ward Ketchup.

After a poor fantasy performance including a nightmare on the road against the Browns in week 14, Ben Roethlisberger racked up over 503 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. That’s two games worth of stats! A performance like that should please fantasy owners (if they’re still alive).

Of course if you were eliminated last week thanks to low fantasy numbers from either of the QB’s in this game (Aaron Rodgers 400 total yards 4 TD’s) you could care less about us eating our words, as you need to clean up the mess you made after kicking over your coffee table knowing you’d have taken anyone down this week in your fantasy pool.
