- Brady Quinn & Jake Delhomme- QB, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with QB Jake Delhomme on a two-year deal. The big question now is what to do with Brady Quinn and all of these QB’s. The Browns have yet to show interest in trading for Brady Quinn, according to beat writer Charles Chandler and as it seems now, training camp is going to be every man for himself. The guy who wins the job will no doubt make the others expendable. - Ray Edwards – DE, Minnesota Vikings
There is a report that the Eagles are interested in Vikings restricted free agent DE Ray Edwards, who has a tender of a 1st round pick - Chris Baker – TE, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are about to sign TE Chris Baker to a two-year, $4.75 million deal. He has little to no fantasy value being behind John Carlson. - Roy Williams – S, Cincinnati Bengals
SS Roy Williams has with the Bengals. - Larry Foote – LB, Detroit Lions
The Steelers will host free agent LB Larry Foote on Monday.

NFL Free Agent Signings & Visits
- The Cleveland Browns have signed tight end Ben Watson to a three-year deal worth $12 million, including $6.35 million guaranteed. Watson, the former Patriot was one of our top 5 sleeper free agents and we feel this is a great addition for the Browns. Cleveland was missing a weapon in the tight end position after trading away Kellen Winslow last year. Slowing and quietly the Browns are taking form, the NFL draft should be interesting to see which direction Mike Holmgren wants to go with this club, improve the defense or play for the future with young offensive talent.
- Free agent LaDainian Tomlinson left Vikings headquarters without a contract Thursday evening. The poor guy is intent on signing with a team that will make him more than a number 2 guy, good luck
- Comcast Sports Net Philadelphia reports the Seahawks are interested only in Kevin Kolb, not Donovan McNabb. The Eagles are known for making back up QB’s look amazing and should consider a high draft pick for Kolb. A couple years back the Eagles got a high 2nd round pick for A.J Feely, after trading him to the Dolphins. He was a bust and re-signed with the team a couple years later. Other Eagle news: Philadelphia has signed WR Hank Baskett to a one-year contract, Friday.
- Patriots re-signed RB Kevin Faulk to a one-year, $2 million contract, including a $1 million signing bonus.
- The Redskins are “very much interested” in signing free agent running back Larry Johnson, according to NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora.
Chiefs Sign Jones
Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent RB Thomas Jones to a two year deal. The 31 year old ex-New York Jet ran for 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009. This move should add that much needed punch in the back field for the Chiefs.
Say Goodbye Mr. Anderson
Only one day after the Browns acquired backup Seneca Wallace in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, Derek Anderson gets released. The 26 year old Anderson has spent 5 up and down seasons with the Browns after being snagged off of the waivers in 05. With Brady Quinn looking to get the chance to become the full time starter in Cleveland and Wallace the ace in the whole if things go wrong, Anderson was dead weight.
Broncos Super Size
Trying to improve on an average defensive line the Denver Broncos have signed DE Jarvis Green and, DT Jamal Williams. While both players are huge in size the expectations haven’t always been filled, making todays signings not the end all solution to the defensive line…just some much needed depth.

NFL Trades: Picks For Players
It’s not often a NFL club can dump an unwanted player for anything these days, a once top prospect becomes a plead for a late round draft pick, but Either way here are a few back-ups that are making a move.
Browns Acquire Seneca Wallace
This trade isn’t anything to get too excited about, unless you write for a NFL site and say it’s going to happen. Our man, DC had mentioned that it was in Holmgrens style to steal away a back-up prospect just as he did when coming to Seattle ( Mock Draft Part 1 )
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Browns have struck a deal with the Seahawks for Wallace, who was drafted in 2003 by Seattle. No Details yet
Reggie Brown To The Buc’s
Eagles dumped a large contract on Monday after finally getting rid of a receiver that never panned out. WR Reggie Brown was not a good fit in the Andy Reid westcoast offense and was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 6th round pick.
Brown is under contract through 2014. Per NFLPA records, he is due to receive a base salary of $1 million in 2010, $1.2 million in 2011, $1.6 million in 2012, $3 million in 2013, and $3.7 million in 2014.
S Kerry Rhodes to Cards
The Jets traded safety Kerry Rhodes to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday for a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft and a seventh-rounder in 2011.
Lions Add CB Houston
After the Falcons lured away Dunte Robinson they decided to trade prospect CB Chris Houston. The Falcons receive in exchange for Houston, the Lions’ sixth-round pick. Also, the two teams will flip flop draft picks in the fifth round.

Team Needs Mock Draft (Part 1)
It’s a little early to be predicting the first round of the NFL Draft, yet people love to speculate what teams will do (Mel Kiper 9.0 by March). Every year Gridiron Experts refuses to post a Mock Draft too early, so instead we’re posting a 3 part team needs mock draft, giving an educated guess to what teams might be thinking.
Not every position that is lacking on an NFL squad has to be filled with a first round pick. There are still a ton of free agents that are about to hit the open market, and second year players who can step in now that they have a year under them; the first few weeks of March should completely change the draft, so here is a look at the NFL Draft based on how teams are sitting at the moment.
1) St. Louis Rams Team Needs: DT | QB | OT | CB | WR
The Rams really can’t screw this up. There are so many needs on this team that no matter whom they are able to grab in free agency, a blue chip player will be added to this team in the first round. Everyone is preaching about Ndamukong Suh, but the Rams have so much already invested on the defensive line that trading down a couple spots could really pay off with adding more talent quickly. A trade that could drop the Rams down just 5-6 spots is worth its weight in gold.
Mike Vick would be a great fit for this club since the Rams play in a dome, but the Eagles “no trade until the pre-season” smoke screen means the price is not cheap. Right now we’d say unload DE L. Little to the Eagles for Vick, and try to steal a couple of Philly’s late round picks, then grab Suh at pick one. Like we said, the end result is hard to mess up with the top pick in the draft, but teams do it all the time. The good news is there is so much offensive and defensive talent on the board this year that we’d be amazed if the Rams couldn’t improve on their 2 win season.
2) Detroit Lions Team Needs: DE | LB | CB …Anything On Defense
The Lions added a couple good defensive pieces last year with SS Louis Delmas and DT Sammie Lee Hill, but they need more. It’s unlikely that any of these bottom feeder teams are going to lure away an elite unrestricted free agent, so the Detroit Lions best bet is to simply take the best defensive player available. Another top key to this offseason for the Lions would be re-signing Larry Foote, who didn’t play as bad as his surrounding cast last year (70 tackles and 2 sacks). Re-signing Foote and maybe CB Williams James are the Lions top priorities in the next couple weeks.
3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team Needs: DT | DE |LB | OL
The Buccaneers had the NFL’s worst rushing defense last year, allowing an average of 158.2 yards per game on the ground. Fans can say what they want about needing offense, but they’re in a division with Carolina’s J. Stewart and D. Williams, Falcons Michael Turner and the Saints offensive attack. Pressure on the QB and stopping the run are big needs this offseason. DT Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma would be a great fit for the Bucs, but if Tampa can somehow add depth through free agency they would benefit from adding some kind of a pass rusher or one of the
Hoping to resurrect his career, Donte’ Stallworth has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
The 29 year old wide receiver has been waiting out a league suspension from being convicted of manslaughter. Many thought his career might have been in jeopardy, maybe even black balled from the incident.
Stallworth served (only) 24 days of a 30-day sentence in a Miami jail for striking and killing a man with his car. Construction worker Mario Reyes was found dead after being hit by Stallworth’s sports car while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Ravens deal is worth $900,000, with an additional $300,000 in incentives.
We had reported that Stallworth’s 40 time was rumored to have been improved running 40 yard in 4.3 seconds, and well, surely the Baltimore Ravens are in need of some receiving help so the signing fits perfectly. Stallworth has been dubbed injury prone ( to say the least) in the fantasy football world, but this move could add some much need talent to a somewhat flat and aging pass unit.
Brady Quinn a Franchise Quarterback?
Mike Holmgren thinks he knows what he’s doing.
At least, I know that he thinks he knows what he’s doing.
But we won’t get into Holmgren and his less than masterful exit from Seattle. We won’t get into his zero Super Bowl wins in the last 11 seasons.
No, Holmgren and his slightly overrated resume isn’t on trial here.
The idea of blindly casting aside a legitimate franchise quarterback in Brady Quinn, however, is. It’s not necessarily that Quinn is perfect for Cleveland. And it’s not that Kevin Kolb or Donovan McNabb (in trade rumors) aren’t.
The thing that leaves a bit of a bitter taste in this non-Browns fan is that Quinn, like so many other young quarterbacks drafted by terrible franchise, simply hasn’t been given a fair shake.
In quick summary, the briefest of overviews on his short three-year career can tell you the sad, sad story of what it’s like to be Brady Quinn in the NFL .
His rookie season was a complete learning lesson (waste), as he sat on the bench and watched Derek Anderson have a brilliant (fluke) season.
Year two saw Anderson sink back to the level that he probably belongs at, giving Quinn his first crack at leading the Browns to a higher plateau in Week 10 of the 2008 season, and he delivered an unforgettable performance.
Brady Quinn’s numbers were very close to Jay Cutler pass-for-pass in an epic duel between young, skilled signal callers, as he used all of his weapons en route to 239 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in a thrilling 34-30 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Quinn went on to suffer a pinkie injury in the next game, rendering him ineffective, forcing him out of the line-up, and sending him on injured reserve.
Still, in his brief time as the starter, Quinn showed an energy the Browns offense had been lacking, and while he didn’t quite display the rocket arm that Anderson had, he developed solid chemistry with his receivers, particularly tight end Kellen Winslow.
In 2009, Quinn was healthy again and opened the season as the starter, although it wasn’t known to the public (and no one knows if it was even
Earlier this season, Jerome Harrison stepped in for an injured Jamal Lewis and tallied 81 total yards on 21 touches against a stout Baltimore Ravens defense, and sparked the notion that he could soon supplant the aging Lewis as the Browns’ new starting running back.
He then followed up that talk with an unlikely superstar day, rushing for 121 yards on 29 carries, while racking up another 31 yards on five receptions. He got the fantasy world foaming at the mouth, and before we could all figure out Eric Mangini and the new-look Cleveland Browns, we had the rug pulled out from under us. Jamal Lewis returned, the Browns kept trying to get rookie James Davis going, and Harrison’s nagging injuries left him out of the mix.
For the next nine weeks, we were all left to wonder if this guy had what it takes to be an NFL running back, if he was worth a fantasy roster spot, and if he’d ever get more than 10 carries in a game again. Two weeks ago, against the Kansas City Chiefs, those questions were answered.
Harrison ran for an extremely impressive 286 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries, displaying great vision and cutting ability, while also showcasing his above-average speed.
That one game set afire Jerome Harrison debates, and made us all wonder (yet again) if this kid could rumble with the best of them in the NFL. Did he just need another “go-around” as the featured back, or was this just a testament to how bad the Chiefs run defense has gotten?
The answer: quite possibly a little bit of both.
But then came Week 16’s action. Harrison faced an equally woeful Oakland Raiders defense, and proceeded to carry his Browns on his back to the tune of 39 carries, 148 yards, and one score, while leading them to their second straight victory.
So, the question remains: is this guy for real?
When you consider that he’s topped 120 rushing yards or more in each of the last three games where he’s ran the ball at least 29 times, then the

Mike Holmgren has agreed to become the teams new president. Holmgren indicated his job offer with the Browns could include a return to the sideline, but his duties likely will focus on personnel decisions. On Saturday, the 61-year-old Holmgren turned down a front-office position with the Seattle Seahawks to join the dawg pound.
Personally, I think this move is smart, but Holmgren is no messiah. The Cleveland Browns have only a few bright spots on their current roster and will need time to turn things around.
