Brandon Marshall Traded To The Dolphins

Brandon Marshall To The Dolphins

Brandon Marshall was traded to Miami Wednesday for two second-round picks. One in this years draft (43rd overall) and another selection in 2011.

Marshall then signed a four-year extension worth $47.5 million, with a whopping $29 million coming in the first three years, reported by NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

On paper this trade looks to be about right, as the Dolphins add a top wide receiver for a reasonable price. But the x-factor has to be the childish attitude that Brandon Marshall has been known to have. The talented receiver will no doubt be the focal point on every passing down in Miami, but as a running team Marshall should see a significant drop in catches and yards.

Gridiron Experts latest mock draft has Denver selecting WR Demaryius Thomas with their first pick, but we were very close of having Miami going after a receiver too. This trade allows both teams to keep their 1st round picks while gaining many options in the draft. With an extra 2nd round pick the Broncos are now not so pressured to replace the talented Marshall in the first round, while Miami can now scratch off one of their primary needs can get a prime time first round player as well.

Of all the trades thus far, this one has the biggest chance to blow up in someones face. With a very stacked draft, Denver might be able to have their cake and eat it too, as Marshall was not coming back. If Denver can walk away with a solid young receiver and add more depth elsewhere with the extra picks, all the while watching Marshall pull the same drama-queen attitude in Miami, they will with out a doubt win this trade. But if Miami can make the kid happy, (47.5 million is a good start) the Dolphins might just have gotten one of the leagues best young offensive weapons in the game, for a bag of footballs.
