Begin The NFL Cuts
Antonio Pierce was let go by the New York Giants after 5 seasons on Thursday. The 31 year old linebacker was a part of a very pathetic defense that will being under the microscope this off-season. Pierce missed the final seven games of the season with a bad foot, but age and maybe being the scape-goat has forced the Giants to move on. Defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan and defensive line coach Mike Waufle were fired after the season so this might be the beginning of a defensive spring cleaning for the Giants.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have let go of wide receiver Torry Holt, LT- Tra Thomas and DT-Rob Meier in hopes of shaking up a young team. Holt caught 51 passes for 722 yards with the Jaguars last season, adding to his impressive 920 career receptions for 13,382 yards and 74 touchdowns. These players releases aren’t really big news, age has become a factor for Tra Thomas and Rob Meier while Holt is baggage that can be filled with a young project
