Are The Redskins Really After Vincent Jackson?

The Washington Redskins are notorious for making boat-loads of deals in the off-season, and as it seems the trend continues. Only a couple of weeks after making a pretty good upgrade to the offensive line, rumors are now circulating that Chargers Vincnet Jackson is the man of interest. According to ESPN.com’s Bill Williamson, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is a “big” fan of Vincent Jackson.

And why wouldn’t he be a big fan, playing in San Diego the ex-Bronco coach has probably watched a lot game tape on the kid. Trade rumors start-up all the time, but rarely pan out. Although, in this case the Chargers have “made it known” that unsigned restricted free agent Vincent Jackson will remain available for trade, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Redskins are very aggressive and will take their best shot in acquiring the big threat wide receiver. But what could this mean for fantasy owners if such a trade was to take place?

Phillp Rivers is one the best fantasy QB’s that doesn’t require you to have to burn a high draft pick for. In fact he is usually my go-to-guy after I’ve stacked my team with the best available RB’s. But if such a trade took place, the Charger gunslinger’s value would no doubt take a hit. Rivers has always had the ability to read defense’s quickly but relied on the height advantage of Jackson and Gate’s to bail him out in the redzone.

The Redskins are desperate for a big play wide receiver as McNabb was just getting use to having DeSean Jackson before being traded away. If Vincent Jackson did get dished off to Washington, I think the overall fantasy effect would be a lot like the B.Marshall deal to Miami; Overall, the end result would in fact just lower the value of the traded player. McNabb might see a boost (not much) in the rankings but Rivers and V.Jackson would slip on my board. As a avid fantasy fan of Phillp Rivers I hope the Chargers find away to work things out.
