3 Way Fantasy Face Off
3 Way Fantasy Face Off
Three wide receivers are looking to have big seasons in their new jersey colors. Each of these 3 WR’s are on new teams, and Gridiron Experts is going to compare fantasy value to see what (if any) value these second tier WR’s have. Who’s going to have a big season, and who’s just going to be a big waste of money?

Quarterback:
D.Stallworth picks good teams to go to along with big dollars. He played in NE last year, but was never a featured weapon. Tom Brady rarely looked his way, and NE let Stallworth walk in free agency to his new home in Cleveland. Here Donte should be the number two WR and see many passes in a pass-happy offense. Derrick Anderson is a gun slinger but he’s no Tom Brady. Stallworth should see more passes go his way in Cleveland.
B.Berrian isn’t getting a major upgrade at QB, Although Tarvaris Jackson does throws a quick ball. With T.Jackson’s speed the WR’s will have more freedom in their routes to get open and Berrian should flourish in this offense and make T.Jackson’s job much easier with his break away speed.
Jerry Porter’s move to the Jaguars is one that most fantasy fans may over look. Jacksonville is a great team, and with David Garrard finally comfortable at the helm, this team could go deep into the playoffs. Before Dennis Northcutt showed up, the JAG’s were a team of giants at WR. Tall WR’s aren’t a bad thing, but speed is sometimes lost for height. Jerry Porter is 30 yrs old but is getting a great upgrade at QB, and he could be the deep threat on the team. EDGE: Berrian with Stallworth a close second.
Strength of Schedule:
Stallworth enters a tough division; the AFC North has 2 of the leagues best Defenses with PIT and BAL. Most people don’t look too much at who a fantasy player has to face, but if a team such as the Steelers are only allowing 177 yards on average per game through the air, you may think to start someone else. Cleveland’s schedule is one of the hardest this season, opposed to being in NE where you play a super weak division. Stallworth may be a streaky player, with solid numbers one week and crap the next.
Bernard Berrian stays in the NFC North, and will face his old team twice (revenge games). Bernard also has two Monday night games and one Sunday night game to showcase his skills.
Jerry Porter gets a mixed bag of opponents, but sees more chances for big games being on a team with a more all around chance for success. Porter is being penciled in as the #1 WR, and although you could say the same for Berrian in MIN, Jacksonville throws the ball a hell of a lot more. EDGE: Berrian with Porter in second.
Injuries: Donte Stallworth is injury prone having hamstring injuries his whole career. Berrian is not a big physical WR, and does run the risk of getting hurt more often mainly due to his size. Jerry Porter is a couple years older than the other two, and did only play 2 games in 06, but bounced back and started all 16 games last year. EDGE: Porter with Berrian in second.
