10 Things To Do Now That The NFL Season’s Over

10 Things to do now that the NFL Season’s Over

In reality, this list could be taken down to one for some fans: WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON. For the rest, here are 10  ideas to get through the next six months:

10). WATCH BASKETBALL- The NBA season is just past the midway point, and March Madness is just around the corner for NCAA followers. For a lot of gamblers, this is the second best time of near, next to number two on this list. Note: don’t get drunk at the bar and lay your life savings on the 16-seed in the NCAA Tourney because “you’ve got a hunch they’re due this year.”

9). WATCH BASEBALL- Pitchers and catchers begin reporting to Spring Training next week. If you can make it through the lack of excitement of split- and inter- squad games, then this could be an enjoyable (and profitable) time of year. And since baseball viewership has declined since the last ‘90s, let me gave you one piece of advice: if you find a sportsbook with an over/under on Barry Bonds homeruns this year, stay. He’s out of the game, and though he hasn’t officially retired, it’s quite unlikely he’s coming back. Then again, Brett Favre is…isn’t…is…isn’t….retiring. Is…isn’t…

8). ANALYZE THE 2009 NFL SEASON- From a gamblers perspective, this would be a heck of a time to review last year’s games, wagers won and lost, and trends unnoticed through the past season. Doing this can give you a solid edge when you throw down the bankroll next year. But, don’t overanalyze it, or you’ll be living in a van down by the river.

7). GET CRACKING ON THAT HONEY-DO LIST- Most of us are in the dog house with the women in our lives since we neglected the house, cars, yard, bills, etc…these past six months. Get a jump on all of those things left undone, so you can hunker down come August.

6). HOST OR VISIT WEEKLY POKER GAMES- Not into basketball and football betting? Calculate the odds at the card table and build your bankroll the easy way…sometimes…

5). DRINKING GAMES- Good practice to keep that tolerance up for next year so that you don’t throw up and pass out before kickoff on opening day. Take this one from those in the know…me.

4). JOIN A CO-ED SOFTBALL LEAGUE- For the single men, this is a great way to pick up women. Can’t hit the long ball? Don’t worry; chicks dig you hustling out that week ground ball to first, too…I think. (Or this may explain why I can’t ever seem to get a date).

3). START A PROJECT- Build a shed, a table, an entertainment center. For God’s sake, do NOT buy the Wal-Mart desk with the Chinese instructions and pieces of wood and metal unknown to anyone on planet Earth! Do it yourself, and when that table leans to one side, put a phone book or two under the legs to level it off.

2). READ BOOKS/WATCH MOVIES: No better way to stimulate your brain than a good book, and no better way to ignite your soul than to watch a mind-twisting thriller. Hey, even if it is Playboy magazine or the Spice Channel, at least it’s stimulating, right?

Remember, boys and girls, enjoy this list in moderation. Abusing any of these ideas will only land you in further trouble than the five grand you dumped on the stupid coin-toss prop bet for the Super Bowl. (Tails never fails, huh)?

1). Read Gridiron Experts Articles: This is a given isn’t it?

Oh, and if you’re going to abuse any of these, please don’t make it the Honey-Do List! That’s speaking for all of football-watching men.

I can tell you from experience some co-ed softball teams do have absolute babes while many others leave a lot to be desired. If you can find a league where all of the teams go to one league bar, then you’re golden.

Drinking games are always good too.
